Kyo-Train Garaku : The Best Way of Visiting Kyoto from Osaka by Using Hankyu Railway

What is Kyo-Train?

Kyo-train’s appearance

 The Kyo-Train Garaku is a special train operated by Hankyu Railway that runs between Osaka Umeda and Kyoto Kawaramachi.

With its traditional Japanese gardens and elaborate interior design, this train is enjoyable just to ride.

It operates from Hankyu Railway’s Osaka-Umeda Station to Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station.


 Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station is convenient for going to tourist spots such as Gion and Kiyomizu-dera Temple.


 You can also transfer at Katsura Station to go to the popular tourist destination of Arashiyama.

Traditional Japanese Garden “Karesansui”

 The garden is modeled after the traditional Japanese “karesansui” style garden.

”Shoji” and ”Noren”


 In addition, the interior design, including “shoji” windows and “noren” curtains, has been recreated.

How to Board?

No Reservation is Required. Only Regular Fee.

 You don’t need to make a reservation or buy a limited express ticket to ride.


 It’s the same as other local trains.

Things to Note

People lining up in advance

 It gets very busy, so you’ll need to line up early to get a seat.


 During peak seasons, such as autumn foliage season, it gets even busier, and you’ll likely need to line up at least 20 minutes in advance.
